Water testing
Testing for lead
Lead usually enters water from a home's own plumbing — solder, service lines, older fixtures — after the water leaves the main. That's why the utility's numbers and your tap's number can differ.
How a meaningful lead test works
- First-draw sample — collected after water sat in the pipes (typically overnight), because that's when plumbing contact matters most
- Accredited laboratory analysis — reported as a value in µg/L (ppb), with the sampling date
- Some utilities offer free lead testing to customers — worth asking before paying
What the result unlocks
A measured value lets you match treatment with a certified lead-reduction claim for that exact use — filters and RO units are certified per contaminant, per model. Without a value, no product match is honest, and we won't make one.
A home strip cannot establish lead at the levels that matter for a decision. For lead, accredited lab analysis is the only qualifying evidence.
